Sharukh khan - Ban for lifetime ?

Bollywood actor and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner Shahrukh Khan , after winning match he is become over excited and wanted to enter into wankhede stadium without permission and he is also drunk. Security  guards try to stop him but he is started misbehaving and arguing with security guard and cricket officials. The incident took place Wednesday night after his team beat Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League match at the stadium.

Khan and his entourage wanted to celebrate after the presentation ceremony but he was not allowed to do so, officials said. He allegedly misbehaved with an elderly guard and pushed him. When Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials intervened, he is said to have abused them.

“This is a grave matter. I have called for an urgent meeting and we shall discuss the matter following which we will decide the future course of action,” union minister and MCA president Vilasrao Deshmukh told IANS.

A decision on a lifetime ban would be taken only after the meeting of all members from the managing committee of MCA next week, MCA Joint Secretary Nitin Dalal said.
Giving details, MCA treasurer Ravi Sawant said: "He pushed the security guard and misbehaved with him. He also used bad language with security officials. When we tried to intervene, he yelled out expletives at us."
Sawant said Khan, flanked by his bodyguards, went to the players' dressing rooms to congratulate them. He then came down and started going towards the ground.
"When the security personnel told him that he cannot do so, he abused the guard and his men manhandled the security personnel," Sawant added.

What irked Khan was that MCA officials switched off the floodlights. Sheikh, who is also a member of the MCA managing committee, was present at the ground on match duty and had to rush to prevent the situation from turning ugly.
“I took him out and separated him because the incident was turning ugly. While being taken away he was showering abuses on MCA and BCCI officials. We are investigating the matter,” said Sheikh. MCA filed a complaint with Mumbai's Marine Drive police station.

China ignores Pakistan's concerns, approves Indian basmati imports

BEIJING: China has made a rare trade move opening up import channels for Indian basmati rice although it might hurt exports of similar produce from its close ally, Pakistan. According to sources, this is a politically sensitive move that suggests that Beijing is no more willing to walk the extra mile to protect Pakistan's interests.

China has been importing Pakistani aromatic rice for the past few years. Islamabad is known to have been persuading China not to allow Indian basmati because it will affect its already small export basket. What is more, Pakistan has begun to push China to buy more of its cotton yarn after New Delhi slapped a partial ban on cotton exports.

Though New Delhi and Beijing signed the basmati protocol 2006, it has taken China over five years to give the green signal because the Pakistan factor played a role in its thinking, sources said.

APJ Abdul Kalam on BJP's list of probable candidates for President: Sources

New Delhi:  With the race for Rashtrapati Bhawan hotting up, sources have told NDTV that former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam is on the list of probable candidates for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The development comes on a day when Samajwadi Party (SP) once again put its weight behind Dr Kalam for the President's post.

"In 2002, Mulayam Singh had forwarded the name of Abdul Kalam for the Presidentship. We don't have any problem if Mr Kalam becomes President," SP leader Shahid Siddiqui said today.

Yesterday, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar reportedly said that a consensus should be evolved over who the next president should be. Becoming the first UPA leader to express in public his preference for the presidential candidate, Mr Pawar had said that he feels that "a non-political person can be an ideal choice." Today, Mr Pawar denied making any such statement.
"All I have said that after seeing UPA and NDA numbers, all political parties need to sit together and an agreed candidate should be chosen and a dialogue process should be initiated. I never said non-political, I said agreed candidates. It was reported as apolitical," Mr Pawar said.

The race for Rashtrapati Bhawan has resulted in most unlikely of political friendships. There are reports that Samajwadi Party and the Trinamool Congress may join hands for the presidential polls. Mr Kiranmay Nanda, a Samajwadi Party leader from West Bengal and a Rajya Sabha MP met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee last Tuesday for over an hour. He is believed to have discussed alignment for the Presidential elections to be held in June this year to find a successor to Pratibha Patil. The last day for filing the nomination is May 24.

The Samajwadi Party leaders also met with their counterparts in the AIADMK on Thursday. Reports suggest that former President APJ Abdul Kalam could emerge as a consensus candidate.

This could be one more Mamata headache for the Congress, which leads a government at the Centre that needs all its allies and any other support it can gather to make up numbers to put its candidate in the Rashtrapati Bhawan, if it comes to a contest.

The UPA does not have a majority in the electoral college that elects the President - the Congress on its own has 31 per cent of the total votes and the UPA as a whole is estimated to have 40 per cent. The NDA does not have a majority either - the BJP has about 24 per cent on its own and the NDA has 30 per cent votes.

From its huge victory in Uttar Pradesh recently, the SP gets to the table a sizeable number of votes in the electoral college that elects the President of India. Together with the Trinamool, it can make a substantial difference in deciding who will be the next President. Sources say party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and senior leader Ram Gopal Yadav have had several rounds of talk and have even prepared a list of candidates. Other regional parties that would play a role in a contest would be the AIADMK, the BSP and the BJD.

The Congress has also for some time now been looking at Mulayam Singh's Samajwadi Party as a potential alternative big ally to Mamata Banerjee, who has not been a very supportive partner at the best of times.

How the President is elected:

An electoral college of all elected MPs and MLAs of all state legislatures elect the President. India has 776 MPs and 4120 MLAs. Each MP's vote has a value of 708, an MLA's vote value differs from state to state. Total value of votes of all 4,120 MLAs is 5,49,474. Total value of votes of all 776 MPs is 5,49,408.

Barcelona needs to top Chelsea in Champions League

Barcelona needs to top Chelsea in Champions League

BARCELONA: Still recovering from a morale-busting loss at home in the Spanish league, Barcelona will need to quickly regroup to beat Chelsea and overturn a first leg deficit in the Champions League semifinals.

The defending champions in both Spain and Europe lost to Real Madrid 2-1 on Saturday and now trail their biggest rivals by seven points with four games to go. Last week, the Catalan team lost at Chelsea 1-0 in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals.

It was first back-to-back losses in almost three years.

"This isn't a delicate moment, it's a promising one," Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez said. "We have in our hands the chance to make it a great season. We are competitive, but this team has stood out for knowing how to deal with losing. We accept loses and move on."

Chelsea is unbeaten in its last six meetings with Barcelona, and the English team will likely keep to its defensive tactics in an attempt to stop Lionel Messi from influencing the match.

"I think we'll require (a game) similar to the home leg," Chelsea defender Gary Cahill said after his team's 0-0 draw with Arsenal on Saturday. "A little element of luck, defensively as a whole unit everyone sticking to their task, and the (same) concentration level."

Messi was bottled up by both Chelsea and Madrid to remain scoreless in his last two outings, and when he did manage to set up his teammates, they failed to finish.

Against Madrid, the three-time world player of the year didn't even manage a shot on goal, something almost unimaginable for the club's all-time leading scorer who already has 63 goals this season.

While Barcelona generated more than enough chances against Chelsea to draw or even win their first game, it was uncharacteristically sluggish and predictable against Madrid with playmakers Andres Iniesta and Xavi not their usual sharp selves.

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola can count on Cesc Fabregas and Gerard Pique to be fresh after neither played a minute against Madrid.

Pique, who didn't appear in the first leg in London, either, could play a critical role by starting Barcelona's attack with his long passing from the back.

Interim Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo defended his strategy of using two tight defensive lines.

"You know how many players, how many teams and managers have tried with different tactics to play against Barcelona?" Di Matteo asked. "They will always create chances, whatever you do, because of the sheer quality that they have in the team, the individual quality between the players.

"They've got top players, more than one of the best players in the world in their team."

Chelsea arrives in better physical form after resting most of its starters over the weekend. Striker Didier Drogba, who scored from Chelsea's only shot on goal in the first leg, is the team's only major doubt as he tries to recover from a knee injury.

Barcelona knows that it must not to concede another goal on its home ground if it hopes of making its third Champions League final in four years.

"We have the Champions League within our grasp and we can reach another final," Barcelona captain Carles Puyol said. "We have to be very careful on their counterattacks and set pieces."

The winner will face either Bayern Munich or Madrid in the final on May 19. Madrid hosts the German side on Wednesday looking to come back from a 2-1 loss in the first leg.
